Looking for something a little different to do this Halloween? Forget the usual haunted houses and horror movie marathons. Cork has plenty of weird, wonderful and downright spooky events to sink your teeth into this October.

From immersive circus and underground cabaret to vampire costume parties, live-scored horror films and eerie island adventures, we've rounded up five alternative Halloween events in Cork for adults who fancy something beyond the ordinary.

Whether you're after a proper fright, an excuse to dress up or just something a bit unusual, here's what's happening around Cork this Halloween.

The Wake at Circus Factory

Death's throwing a party, and you're on the guest list!

This Halloween, Circus Factory invites you to The Wake, an immersive circus theatre experience where the dark and the light, the ridiculous and the tragic come together for one very unusual gathering.

‘The Wake’ at Circus Factory

Sit with the dead before they slip off to the other side (don't worry, they don't bite), as circus, theatre and a healthy dose of the bizarre turn a traditional wake into something completely unexpected.

Equal parts tender and twisted, poignant and preposterous, The Wake isn't your typical night at the theatre.

When: October 30th & 31st | 8.30 pm - 10.30 pm approx
Where: Circus Factory
Who’s it for: Adults 18+
Is booking required?: Yes

If you're looking for something that goes beyond the usual Halloween scares, this is a chance to experience circus in a completely different setting, where you're part of the action rather than just watching it. Personally, I love an immersive experience!

Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror with Live Original Score

What's scarier than a century-old vampire film? Watching it with a brand-new live soundtrack that brings every eerie moment to life.

This Halloween, Cork-based composer James Wolfe is giving F.W. Murnau's silent horror classic Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922) a musical makeover at the Cork School of Music.

Forget the usual film screening. This one-night-only performance features an original score performed live by an ensemble of emerging musicians, blending jazz, classical music, noise rock and heavy metal.

Expect atmospheric sounds, experimental music and plenty of unsettling moments as the musicians breathe new life into one of cinema's most iconic vampires.

When: October 30th | 7 pm - 10 pm
Where: The Stack Theatre, Cork School of Music
Who it’s for: 12+

Vampire & Slayer Halloween Party

It's HOA HOA HOA season (we see you twi-hards, we see you hanging on!)

Calling all Slayers, vampires, hunters, witches and demons. From the people behind the Buffy the Vampire Slayer quiz series comes the ultimate Halloween crossover party of 2026.

Whether you're Team Edward, changed your name to Salvatore or firmly on the side of our favourite Vampire Slayer Buffy Summers, this is your chance to embrace your favourite supernatural character for a night of cult classics, costumes and dancing.

The evening kicks off with a screening of Hush, the Emmy-nominated episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, before moving into the Slayer & Vampire Pageant.

Come dressed as your favourite vampire, slayer or hunter and compete for the title of Top Killer. Then it's time to hit the dance floor with music inspired by the films and television series that made the vampire universe what it is.

Witches and demons are very welcome too. All vampires will be invited in at the door.

Things are getting freaky at The Black Dog this Halloween!

Cork's wonderfully wild Zoo Night returns on Friday, 30 October, bringing a night of pole, drag, burlesque and dance performances and plenty of spooky shenanigans.

This year's theme is Horror Classics, so whether you're channelling your favourite slasher villain, gothic icon or something straight out of your nightmares, it's time to get creative.

Conviction: A Halloween Experience on Spike Island

Fancy spending Halloween in a former island prison? This October, Spike Island is getting a little more sinister as mentalist and escape artist Dean Jacob brings his brand-new show, Conviction, to the historic island.

Your evening begins with a boat trip from Cobh before heading into the prison's eerie corridors and dark underground tunnels, including areas not normally open to the public.

Then it's time for Conviction, a live show packed with mind-bending illusions, daring escapes and unsettling encounters.

Combining the island's haunting history with suspense, mystery and live entertainment, this is one for anyone who likes their Halloween with a side of genuine atmosphere.
