This Halloween weekend, Cork based composer James Wolfe invites audiences to experience F.W. Murnau's silent horror masterpiece Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922) accompanied by a brand new live score performed by some of Ireland's most exciting emerging musicians.
Blending influences from jazz, late Romanticism, noise rock and heavy metal, Wolfe's original score reimagines the century-old vampire classic for modern audiences while preserving the eerie atmosphere that made Nosferatu one of cinema's most enduring works.
Currently undertaking an MA at the Cork School of Music, Wolfe is a composer and multi-instrumentalist whose work explores themes of digital overwhelm, religion and Irish identity across a wide range of styles and genres. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, he has written for chamber ensembles, choirs, jazz groups and electronic projects, and is also the frontman of Dublin alternative rock band "Anonymoses".
