ISL Performance of The Sound of Music at Cork Opera House

Fall in love all over again with one of the greatest musicals of all time, The Sound of Music, live onstage at Cork Opera House this Summer. And there will be a relaxed performance, and an ISL performance. There is an induction loop and the venue is wheelchair accessible. See accessibility information below.

Starring acclaimed Soprano and Classical Brit Award Nominee, Wendy Carr, as Maria, West End star Matt Blaker, leading man of The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago and The Bodyguard, and a cast member of Netflix’s The Crown, as Captain Von Trapp and one of Ireland’s great Sopranos, Majella Cullagh, in the role of Mother Abbess; alongside Jean Elliott (Sister Sophia), Carrie Mullane (Sister Berthe) and Emma Nash (Sister Margaretta).

Join us for a spectacular new production of this timeless classic, set against the sweeping beauty of the Austrian Alps and brought to life with dazzling sets, vibrant costumes, and unforgettable performances. Follow the heartwarming journey of Maria, the spirited governess whose love of music transforms the lives of the von Trapp family, as she teaches them about joy, love, and hope in the face of a changing world.
